Almasane Alkobra Mining Co. (AMAK) is a leading Saudi Arabian publicly listed mining company registered on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) stock exchange (Tadawul). AMKA is registered and licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and is located in the Najran region in the KSA.

Since inception in 2008, AMAK has adopted a long- term business strategy, focused on sustainable growth of its technical and operational infrastructure to support its various activities. AMAK aims to achieve an array of a major successes in order to be at the forefront of the mining sector in the KSA.

The company applies all business requirements related to this field, including exploration, mining, processing, and smelting, in line with global best practices.

The company began commercial production of copper and zinc concentrates in 2012 from its main operations region at Al Masane Underground Mine, which included ore production from the Saadah and Al-Houra orebodies.  A second portal was developed in 2019 to produce ore from a third nearby orebody, Moyeath. In 2022 the company developed the Guyan gold project and processing plant which lies just 10 km from the Al Masane underground mining complex, and in 2024, a new state-of-the-art process plant was commissioned to add additional processing capacity for copper and zinc concentrates.

The combined annual production from AMAK’s existing facilities includes approximately 30-40 kt of copper concentrate, 60-80 kt of zinc concentrate, 25-35 koz of gold doré, and 40-50 koz of silver doré.  Zinc and copper concentrates also contain approximately 10 koz of gold and 450-500 koz of silver.

Targetted exploration of the KSA’s rich mineral endowment is another key business focus area for the company.  AMAK now holds 21 tenements for exploration and production covering approximately 1,500 km2 across the Kingdom covering copper, zinc, gold, silver, industrial minerals and other commodities.

Savas Sahin | Board Member & Chairman of the Executive Committee

Engineer Savas Sahin, Board Member and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Almasane Alkobra Mining Company (AMAK), previously served as Chief Executive Officer of AMAK and is a Board Member of Pasofino Gold TSX-V (VEIN). He was the CEO and board member of Esan Eczacıbaşı from March 2022 until March 2024. During his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of AMAK between 2017 and December 2022, he worked on the reinstating and development of Al Masane plant for zinc and copper, construction of the Guyan gold mine, and began the construction of Al Masane Expansion Project. He has long experience in mining, starting his work as an Underground Engineer since 1997 at Eurogold and then working in production, planning and projects at several Turkish and Australian companies, Inmet Metal Mining, Newmont, Mount Isa Mines and Beaconsfield Gold. Engineer Savas worked as a Project Manager at several international consulting companies before taking over as Project Manager and Deputy General Manager and CEO at Demir Export under the KOC Group between 2010 and 2017. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Middle East Technical University in Mining Engineering, and a Master’s degree from the Department of Business Administration (MBA Executive) at at Bilkent University. 

 

Geoffrey McDonald Day | CEO

Engineer Geoffrey McDonald Day, an Australian national, is a geochemist with over 35 years of experience in the mining industry worldwide. His expertise encompasses all phases of mining, starting from exploration, through all mining and processing operations, technical services, and mine closure and rehabilitation. Additionally, he has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions, and external affairs.  He has held senior technical, operational and executive roles in Rio Tinto and Newcrest (now Newmont) where he was Chief Operating Officer.

Engineer Geoffrey has worked in various regions around the world, including Australia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, North America, South America, Africa, Turkey and Europe.
