Peter Deneen is a founding director of EV-Metals Resources Group, a consulting & investment advisory group based in Hong Kong, focusing on upstream supply of Nickel, Cobalt, and other strategic metals used in electric vehicle batteries and other energy storage devices.
Prior to founding EV-Metals, Peter was Senior Vice President in charge of trading and overseas assets at Jinchuan Group International Resources Co. Ltd, HK-listed subsidiary of Chinese mining conglomerate Jinchuan Group. In addition to trading copper, cobalt, and other base metals, Peter served on the board of Metorex Limited, an African mining company with operating copper and cobalt assets in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). While at Jinchuan, Peter worked on development of new sources of nickel and cobalt, traveling frequently to Indonesia to evaluate projects and resources.
Peter has worked in metals industry, primarily as a trader, for over 25 years; initially based in Beijing as Chief Representative of Cometals, a division of Commercial Metals Company (NYSE: CMC). He later headed up the global alumina team at Samsung America’s, a major supplier to the Chinese aluminium industry. Peter was also a former board member, in charge of copper cathode sales at Erdmin, Mongolia’s sole refined copper and wire rod producer.
Peter holds a Master’s Degree in International Management and Finance (MA) from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird), and an undergraduate degree in China Studies from Hampshire College in Amherst MA. Peter speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.
