Consolidated Nickel Mines Ltd (CNM) is a private company bringing the Munali nickel sulphide mine, located in Southern Zambia, back into production. First production commenced in Q1 2019, with ramp-up to full operations expected in Q4 2019. The mine has a JORC compliant resource of 6Mt at 1.0% Ni and is well located, with excellent transport and communication links in a well known mining jurisdiction. The mine expects to produce 25,000 tonnes of nickel concentrate in 2019.
Simon Purkiss, CEO
Simon Purkiss has over 25 years’ experience in mining industry. He is currently CEO of Consolidated Nickel Mines, a privately-owned company which is restarting the Munali Nickel Mine in Zambia. Prior to this, Simon was a founder and Managing Director of European Nickel PLC, which developed a heap leaching technology for nickel laterites to full bankable feasibility study levels. Simon’s background includes technical, operational and corporate development roles with BHP Billiton, Billiton, Impala Platinum and junior mining companies in South Africa, the FSU and Australia. He is a Professional Engineer and holds a BSc (Hons) Minerals Engineering from Birmingham University.
