Despite a predicted surplus of 79,000 tonnes this year, the price of copper has recently hit highs not seen since 2011. Copper’s rise has arisen from both demand in China and the economic recovery and subsequent stimulus spending we’re seeing across all major economies. Over the long term, copper is attracting greater (and a broader set of) investor interest as it is inextricably linked to the green energy transition, electrification, renewables, and more.
