Sun Peak is exploring the district-scale Shire VMS Project in the Tigray Region of northern Ethiopia. The Shire Project is comprised of six exploration licenses and covers approximately 1,450 square kilometers in the prospective Arabian Nubian Shield. The licenses are in the same geological environment as both the Bisha Mine and the Asmara Projects. The Sun Peak team have worked in East Africa for more than two decades and the Company’s strategy is to apply exploration techniques that have worked successfully in the region before, to build assets through major copper-gold VMS discoveries.

 

A 6,000 to 7,000 m drill program is currently underway on the Shire Project. This includes the drilling on the Hamlo target as well as the other high priority targets to be drilled this year.

Greg Davis, President & CEO 

Greg Davis was VP, Business Development for Sunridge Gold Corp from 2006 until the sale of the Asmara project in April 2016, during which time he directed financing efforts and raised over $50 million for the Company. The Asmara Project was advanced from exploration and development through acquiring a mining license. Prior to Sunridge, Greg was part of the discovery team at Nevsun’s Bisha Project as on-site Project Manager. Greg has an extensive technical background in the mining sector, with over 20 years of experience in all levels of corporate and project management in various jurisdictions around the world.

What are your key goals for the next 3, 6 and 12 months?

3 Months:
Sun Peak recently began a 6,000 – 7,000 meter fully funded diamond drill program on the Shire Project which will focus on new, untested copper-gold VMS targets which have been developed by the Company. The key goals will be to make new copper-gold VMS discoveries by testing several targets developed by the Company.

What do you see as the key risks and challenges facing your company at the moment and how are you overcoming these?

Key Challenges for Sun Peak and the Shire project is regional risk. To overcome this, Sun Peak management has developed strong relationships with all levels of government in Ethiopia including the federal government, Tigray State Regional Government, and Local Administration in the towns and villages around the project areas. Sun Peak. The goal is to create a runway where the Company can quickly advance the project with full support of stakeholders.

What do you think makes your company such a compelling investment?

Sun Peak Metals is comprised of the discovery team for the biggest VMS deposits in the world found in the last 25 years. Team discoveries and development of Cu-Zn-Au projects in the Nubian-Arabian Shield include Nevsun’s Bisha mine and Sunridge Metals’ Emba Daro and Debarwa projects. Sun Peak is fully funded for the current drill program which is in the same VMS trends as previous successes.
